(More customer reviews)I sprayed the four target spots on the bedroom carpet. Two appeared to be bloodstains, and the other two were set in stains of unknown origin. After spraying I agitated the treated areas with my fingers to make sure the cleaner had worked down into the carpet. With the old formula the user was directed to blot with a white absorbent cloth and weight with a colorfast, moisture-resistant object overnight. This time consuming step is omitted from the "improved formula."

After only a few minutes wait time, I treated the four spots in turn with my trusty SpotBot machine. I used plain hot water in the SpotBot assuming the spritz of Rug Doctor was sufficient. I treated both spot with two cycles of the SpotBot machine. After the first cleaning cycle I noticed an inch or two of soap foam atop the dirty water. The second soak and vacuum with plain hot water picked up the residual soap in the carpet.
If performing the whole cleaning process manually, I'd recommend using the Rug Doctor formula sparingly

I also used the Rug Doctor Spot and Stain Remover on what appeared to be a pet slobber stain on the ottoman. It came out totally.

Rug Doctor Spot and Stain Remover is even better than its predecessor, a great product itself. The improved formula works quickly, doesn't require an overnight weigh down, is relatively benign, and performs as promised. The stains treated with the Rug Doctor cleaner on our carpet disappeared totally with minimal effort on my part. It's a great product, one that's become a fixture in our home.
